TL9000, ISO14001

• In 1996, A group of leading telecom service providers, including Bell Atlantic, BellSouth, Pacific Bell and Southwestern Bell, initiate an effort to establish better quality requirements for the telecom industry. The goal is to create a consistent set of quality system requirements that would apply to the global telecom industry.

  

• The Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications Leadership (QuEST) Forum is formed. At the inaugural meeting, work groups began drafting the set of quality requirements to be incorporated into the TL 9000 Handbook. QuEST Forum forms member work groups, who are tasked with the development of the TL 9000 hardware, software and services requirements.

• 

  TL9000 covers management system factors by dividing system requirements into hardware, software, and service category based on features of IT products family and this standard especially regulates quality performance indicators that can measure the core quality.

• The goal of these requirements is to improve communication industry continuously, and TL9000 helps in reducing cost to suppliers and service providers and improving performance for end users of communication service. TL9000 includes ISO9001:2000 requirements and additional best practice standards for communication industry.

• ubiQuoss developed Quality Management System in 2002 and was awarded TL9000 certification in August 2003. The TL9000 certification approved the company for hardware and software, service requirements.
  The company also obtained ISO14001 certification in 2010 to practice environmental management.

NEBS

• The NEBS(Network Equipment Building System), developed by Bell Telephone Laboratories in 1970s and expanded by Bell Core later, is a collection of basic requirements for Telecommunication Equipment to be used in Central Office(CO).
  The NEBS covers Personal Safety, Personnel Property, and Operational Continuity, and most of service providers in the U.S. demand NEBS Tested or NEBS Compliant equipment. NEBS, an acronym of Network Equipment Building System, certifies whether the system can endure in very harsh environments (severe thunderstorm, earthquake, high temperature, humidity and etc.), which is required by major Telcos. It can be a proof for high-level system and network stability and fusibility.

  

• The NEBS consists of 3 levels from a basic NEBS Level 1 to the most rigorous test, NEBS Level 3. Because NEBS is tested in harsh conditions of temperature and humidity, fire, transportation, vibration, pollution, sound, electronic shock etc., it is important not only to Telcos but also to every customer who wants solid servers.

This equipment may not operate properly, and will have higher failure rate, and there will be problems in isolating network problems or errors.
